pottery and silver jewellery classes, Ohakune
I've been running classes out of the old cheese factory building since 2016, fitting them around the ski season when the town fills up and the quiet months when it doesn't. Most people who come in have never thrown a pot or sawn a piece of silver before, which is exactly who the classes are for.
Classes
The work
The maker
It's one room with two wheels, a long bench for silver work, and a wood burner that gets going the moment the first frost hits the paddocks. Classes are kept small on purpose, so there's always a hand free to help if your clay collapses or your ring won't sit round.
“Did the ring class on a wet Tuesday between ski runs and ended up wearing it home. Didn't expect to make something I'd actually keep.”

Benches are small, so a message ahead is the surest way in.
